Are the plastics used in packaging taking away from our fuel supply?

Every time I go to the store I find more and more items packaged in plastic. While plastic fills our oceans, and land fills is it also robbing us of the fuel we need to heat our homes and run our cars? Plastic is made from petroleum, specifically, ethan and propane. I know that propane can be used to power a car, or cook a hamburger on an outdoor gill. Is ethan or propane used in the making of gasoline

Plastics are synthesized from carbon monoxide and hydrogen gases produced by steam reformation of natural gas.The gases can actually be produced from anything that burns and you can also synthesize gasoline and diesel the same way.The natural gas is a byproduct of oil production and most natural gas is burned in flares at the well.If the natural gas wasn't used to produce the plastic, it would be burned and most likely for no reason other than it's too expensive to collect and store.Indeed whether the plastic is recycled or thrown into a landfill, the carbon within it is sequestered indefinitely so in fact plastics because of how we use fossil reserves, plastic is actually good for the environment but try telling a common layperson that.

We currently get our gasoline by distillation of crude oil so it's just part of the oil.But we can synthesize it even from biomass, trash, old tires and dried sewage.We can even synthesize it from CO2 and H2O directly ( Sandia Labs CR5 ).Distilling it from crude oil is just the least expensive way to get gasoline at this time.

we need to get away from petro products and petro fuel....everything we do revolves around them...even for that hamburger to be made, fields of crops are sprayed with petro chemicals, farmed with fuel consuming tractors, shipped with fuel consuming trucks, processed in fuel consuming plants, and cooked on gas grills...

They mainly come from Natural Gas. Presently we have an overload of natural gas and the price is the lowest in the last 10 years. It would be better to have more plastics to help save the natural gas industry.
